Sinopsis:
Buenos Aires 1955.
Laura belongs to a family of Sicilian
immigrants. She is an adolescent whose relationship with father is
fraught by conflict. The more emancipated Laura becomes the more her
father feels personally betrayed. Whether she spends her time in the
library or at a party; whether she shows interest in cinema or theatre,
or becomes involved in political discussions, her behaviour deeply
irritates her father. The development of an intellectual relationship
with a teacher of Italian origin, Dora, gives Laura a sense of
liberation from her family. But when her father is suddenly overcome by
a physical illness (with a diagnosis so grave it must be kept from him)
their relationship deteriorates rapidly with dramatic results.
