Sinopsis:
The
story takes place during a trip to France made by the Giovan Battista
Andreini's theatrical company.

The actor-manager distraught by the
fights between the leading lady, his wife, and the second leading lady,
his lover, decides to write a play for them with the mad idea of
transforming their hatred of one another into friendship. They start
rehearsing the play as it is being written and the two actresses become
such good friends that when they arrive in Paris they soon become lovers
and abandon the actor-manager, who having believed he could safely use
theatre to manipulate women's souls, is made a fool of.
