It is the two year period between 1916 and 1918. Nora is a cultured woman, charming and independent. In her past is a small grey town with an unusual family – her mother committed suicide when she was only in her teens, leaving her the responsibility of the house and younger brothers and sisters, a failed marriage to a miserly, violent man who seduced her, making her pregnant and unhappy. When Rina (this is her real name) takes the difficult decision to abandon everything, including her son Walter who she adores, she is a young woman, fragile and confused. The Nora who now lives and works in Florence looks like another person. All her friends, most of them well-educated and writers, adore her and regard her as a great writer and intellectual. Nora’s life is marked by a long sequence of sentimental relationships as intense as they are brief, up to the moment when the great poet Dino Campana rises arrogantly putting all the others in the background. After an initial exchange of more or less “formal” correspondence, they decide to meet. When Nora goes to the small Tuscan country town to see the writer, in her heart she already knows what is in store…
