The First of May 1947, in Portella della Ginestra in Sicily, someone fired
on the crowd: 11 dead and 27 wounded. A few hours after the massacre the
investigators already had a name: the bandit Giuliano. Yet strangely
enough, the rapid inquiry of the massacre of men, women and children that
took place on Labour Day and the mysterious murder of the famous bandit
who was supposed to have caused this misdeed were declared by the Italian

In 1951, during the trial against Salvatore
Pisciotta, one of the members of Giuliano’s gang, a lawyer not satified
with the investigation reports decided to secretly conduct his own inquiry
into the killings.From a tiny detail regarding the calibre of the bullets
extracted from the victims, the lawyer went back over the lengthy
investigation looking for new evidence and listened to witnesses that had
never been heard before….
