During his forty-year-long career, Federico Fellini made 24 films, won five Oscars and several other awards.
His only unfinished project was the mysterious Viaggio di G. Mastorna (G. Mastorna’s Journey) : the author inexplicably gave the project up on the eve of shooting the first scene.
The set
was ready, the scenery painted, Dinocittà was at his complete disposal, and yet Fellini, unaccountably decided to abandon the project: the troupe, friends, cast, life-long collaborators . . . The film would not be made.
Why? What happened during the two-year preparatory phase?
