Sinopsis:

Sicily 1930.  An 11 year old boy Aclà is sold to digger, Caramazza, at the Floristella sulphur mine. For five years, from Monday to Saturday, the boy becomes the property of the digger and spends the whole week living down the mine, like all the others miners. He only goes home on Sundays. Aclà decides to escape to the sea he has never seen. The first time he is caught and beaten, and sent back to the mine. He tries again and again, and finally he reaches the sea.
