The early 1900’s.
The young marchesa Anna is forced by her parents, landed nobility and
owners of a bank, to marry Count Herman Ludovici, in the hopes that the
count’s wealth will help them overcome the serious crisis the bank has
fallen into because of bad speculation and the heavy gambling losses of
Anna’s brother, Enrico.
On the very day of Anna and Herman’s wedding, Pietro Pironi reappers in
town after 16 years in America, where he’s become extremely rich.
Pietro is the only man Anna has ever loved. When very young their intense
love story had been fiercely opposed by Anna’s family, that would never
consent to the union of their daughter with a farmer.
Pietro is back with the intention of taking revenge and getting back Anna,
whom he’s never stopped loving. But faced with Anna’s impending marriage
Pietro loses all hope.
Yet destiny takes a different turn.
Pietro saves a very young girl from a nasty fall from a horse out of
control. Aurora is Anna’s younger sister, whose existence Pietro knew
nothing about, since the girl was born while he was in America.
Aurora is actually the daughter of Anna and Pietro. Anna’s parents had
forced her to pass her off as their youngest offspring threatening to give
the child up for adoption.
Unaware that her father had unfairly threatened Pietro and forced him to
leave, Anna painfully accepted to see her role as a mother denied.
When Anna arrives at the Pironi’s house to thank Pietro for saving
Aurora’s life, she’s painfully aware of the immediate empathy between the
two.
After an initial clash the passion between Anna and Pietro rekindles
stronger than ever. But Anna doesn’t have the courage to reveal to Pietro
and Aurora that they are father and daughter.
