After numerous adventures, Anna Obrofari and Pietro Pironi believe they
can finally unite in marriage. Their sworn enemy, Herman Ludovici, is in
prison. The Sacred Rota is quite willing to grant an annulment to Anna
since her husband is a murderer. But one of Herman’s lovers, Baroness de
Salle, succeeds in having him released from prison. The situation of the
two lovers is once again poised on a knife edge. And as if that wasn’t
enough, the arrival of Valentino Belfiore, nephew of the benefactress
who left her entire wealth to Pietro, claims the inheritance.
In the meantime, an epoch-making disgrace overwhelms all those who know
